HAPPINESS AND OPTIMISM

I choose to be happy and optimistic. There was a time I Had to push myself to be happy. Optimism was pretty much a dream that I never expected to happen. Choosing to be happy meant I would be forced to overcome depression and anxiety. Nothing that extreme comes overnight, but I fought the good fight and won the war. Without drugs, I might add. Now I wake each day without putting any effort into being happy and I go to work with an optimistic attitude.
A man once told me a story about waking one morning and felt so bad. He got dressed, went to work and the entire drive there, he was thinking how bad he felt. When he arrived at his workplace, he realized that there would be many employees depending on him for guidance throughout the day. As he entered the elevator, he started repeating outloud, “Man I feel good! I feel so good!” He did this all the way to his floor. As he stepped off of that elevator, he had convinced himself that he felt good. The caveat to this is, you must really believe what you are telling yourself. Anyone can do it. It just takes the strength to believe in yourself.
